Biography of IC's founder Katherine Opashinov

"I have been an intuitive since childhood. I thought it was normal to know how other people felt, to see futures, to heal people, to feel the universe's constant companionship. I grew up singing to unseen forces, playing with energy, having visions. Years later, I learned that these gifts run in my family. Piecing it together, I realize my training had begun from infancy.

1556816-1038667-thumbnail.jpgBy the time I was 16 I knew I wanted to one day have a school where there were no marks, where people's individual instincts and the results they yielded were their best teachers, and where energy and its ways were a part of the curriculum. So I could not be more grateful to have this learning program now to offer and be of service to others on their path.

But between the dream and the opening of the school there were a few stages I had to go through to be ready. I got a degree from the University of Toronto, had a career in marketing, and then graduated from a four-year full time program in mindfulness-based psychotherapy. I then studied under three different shamanic psychotherapists, meanwhile trying to understand my intuitive gift.

Along the way, I realized something: my intuition, although it was difficult before I got a handle on it, was a huge blessing once I learned how to control it. Again and again, I have had friends, clients, and students alike pointing out how fortunate I was that I never felt truly alone, rarely afraid, usually positive, always guided and taught, had access to a level of understanding and knowledge that was far more than my meager reading habits could afford, and had an uncanny knack for manifesting stuff out of thin air. But I wasn't lucky. It's intuition, and after years of teaching intuition I know that everyone can be intuitive. I've seen it! The more a student puts in, the more they get out. Simple but powerful."
